Substantive and linguistic editing of the comics gamebook (or paragraph comics): “Your Town”

I have not updated the website for a long time, and it has happened so much! As Wocial-Tuszyńska art collective we had a solo show in Warsaw, which has just finished.

I had a pleasure to be responsible for substantive and linguistic editing of the comics gamebook (or paragraph comics) in western convention: “Your Town”.

This is the next volume in „Komiks, w którym bohaterem jesteś ty” [Comic book, in which you're the Hero], the series published by FoxyGames.

Gamebooks sometimes called “choose your own adventure books” or CYOA after the series “Choose Your Own Adventure” have been known since the 1960s, but comics gamebook is something new on the Polish market, although the mechanics is the same in both products.

The reader reads and plays at the same time, because (s)he decides about the main character's action and by moving between the numbered panels affects the story. Depending on the player's choices, there are several endings possible, so the paragraph comics can be read many times.

The comics gamebook – as an entertainment – combines my two research fields: comics and narration.
